The Girl Who Ran Away
2 min read

Introduction
Gerry had always been a bit of an outsider. He never really fit in with the other kids in school, and he always preferred to stay at home and read or play video games. So when he was sixteen and he met his neighbour, a girl who was two years older than him, he was over the moon. She was beautiful and kind, and they soon became good friends.
One day, while they were out walking together, she accidentally ran over a stranger with her car. The stranger died instantly, and the girl was so distraught that she ran away from home. Gerry tried to find her, but eventually he had to give up.
Years passed, and Gerry eventually got a job as a sales clerk in a shop in Marietta. He still thought about his neighbour all the time, and he was devastated by the loss of her. One day, he decided to go to the police station and tell them what had happened. When he got there, he found out that the girl had committed suicide a few months earlier. He was heartbroken, but at least he finally had closure.
